Ups and Downs
The staircase is how we go up, and then how we find our way down.
As a transitional space, stairs can be beautiful and inspirational in design. Risers, treads and rails can have repetitive geometric forms, organic shapes, and rhythms. Often staircases have one or more landings and winders. Staircases can suggest a journey. A staircase can be a passageway that unites any two floors.
So maybe it is worth a glance the next time you take a step.
